Doha - Morocco's head of government, Abdelilah Benkirane, called on Sunday in Doha for a more realistic approach in defending the Palestinian issue, stressing that Arabs and Muslims are going through a difficult stage, owing to their divisions.
"As Arabs and Muslims, we are going through a difficult stage, not as a result of Israel's strength or its supporters, but because we are divided", he said during the 2nd annual congress of Arab research centers, noting that approaches adopted so far (to defend the Palestinian cause) have reached their limits.
He also recalled that the Moroccan society is sparing no effort to uphold Palestinian.
Benkirane who is taking part in the Congress themed "the Palestinian cause and the future of the Palestinian national project" was received on Sunday by the Emir of Qatar Cheikh Tamim Ben Hamad Al Thani.
The meeting is attended by several Arab and foreign politicians and academics, including chief Palestinian negotiator, Saeb Erekat, former Tunisian Prime Minister Hamadi Jbali, former head of the Jordanian government, Taher Al Masry, and Special Rapporteur of the United Nations on the situation of human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories, Richard Falk.
